Peppers is a small pizza/pasta joint located at Majestic City – a tiny oasis amidst the culinary badlands of the MC food court.
Over the weekend I found myself wandering about Majestic City doing a bit of shopping. After a couple of tiresome hours of trying to find a gift, I hungrily dragged myself to the spacious, although somewhat crowded, Majestic City food court. They offer a fairly wide variety of food to choose from; there’s a Pizza Hut, KFC, Magic Corn, Juice by Roots, Chinese and Mongolian food stalls, and there’s even a small pastry shop in the corner – but none of it really looks that great. While still pretty popular, the MC food court is faded, stuffy and unflatteringly lit. Unless you’re really, really hungry, we wouldn’t recommend settling down there for a meal.
It is, however, possible to grab a wedge of pizza and flee – and Peppers Pizza & Pasta might perhaps be worth the foray into stuffy lunch tray territory. Well, if you really have to.
Peppers, despite their unfortunate surroundings, can toss up a good pizza. For less than Rs. 150, you get a large, warm slice of tasty pie. Whether it’s the sauce, or the care they take when they cook it, it’s easy to notice the difference between a slice of Peppers pizza to that from an impersonal Pizza Hut or Dominoes. They have their own great signature tomato sauce which holds bits of deliciously spiced chicken on top of soft, warm pizza bread – it’s good.
If you’re ever at Majestic City, try the pizza at Peppers. The rest of the food court, however, is generally best avoided.
