Version 1.2 of the YAMU app is now available for Android and iOS users. We take a look at the new features and other improvements.
The Big Features
You can now log in with Facebook or Google and bookmark posts, which
will get synced with your account on the site. This will allow you have
a list of favourite places or events for quick reference, both on the
app and on the website.
Android only: Content can now be shared using the Android share menu, which gives
you access to all your installed social messaging apps.
The “”Latest”” feed is now better, showing events happening today as well as recent comments. The discussions bring the site alive, and we hope this new feature will enable you to browse them easily.
The Little Things
The last version of the app was a complete rewrite on a different
platform (Cordova), and there were some major kinks and bugs. There was
simply no way for us to test if everything worked on every possible device,
due to the vast array of devices and OS versions available for Android. But
thanks to our wonderful users who gave us bug reports, we were able to fix a
lot of the major annoyances for this release.
Location based search (the “”Nearest”” feed) was failing on some devices, and
we’ve introduced a work-around where you can enter your location textually.
Another feature that has been available but might not be immediately apparent
is the ability to drag the location marker around to a new location.
The events page is now easier to digest at a glance, with the starting date of events clearly visible, and ongoing events marked as such.
So, there you have it. A few big features and a lot of little improvements and refinements throughout. Version 1.2 is now available on Google Play and iTunes.
