Located on the top floor of Crescat, Linen & Life by Ramona Pulle does a lovely range of linen clothing. Prices range from about Rs. 3000 to Rs. 5500.
Linens are a good option if you live near the equator. They’re light, comfortable and cool – but perhaps not always suitable as formalwear (work, parties). Linen & Life adapts a fabric that has largely been rendered as bohemian shapeless, loose-fitting fashion to smart cocktail dresses and trendy tops that look good while also being very comfy.
Most items are well-fitted, lined (a plus – no underskirts or slips needed) and come in simple, elegant designs. The dresses work especially well as office wear. They’re mostly sleeveless and end a little bit above the knee.
Each piece should be available in a range of colours – blacks and off-whites as well as some bright oranges, greens, blues etc – although when we visited they seemed to be at the tail end of the season so stocks were low. Sizing seems to be US.
The current collection also includes a few less formal numbers. Flowing beach items evoke a casual day in Galle sort of vibe – pastel oversized kimono shirts, light and long kurta tops, teeny shorts.
Dresses range from about Rs. 4000 to Rs. 5000 and menswear is similar at around Rs. 5000 a shirt. A small, but nice store overall, although service could improve. It’s worth a visit – especially for the corporate linens.
