Ah, coffee! Have you ever wondered how one could love coffee this much? From aroma and taste to different brewing methods and elegant cultural characters, coffee has come a long way while touching our souls in many different ways.
For some, it's just another drink, but for the rest, it's basically survival juice that picks you up every single morning and provides the mandatory energy boost that one would need to get through the day. We live in an era that coffee is considered as a way of life, a tremendous art, and everyone is in love with the sophisticated social aspect of it.
Having understood that, Mövenpick Hotel Colombo has decided to take a step further, by adding a splash of barista magic to a whole array of dishes they whip up at Robata Grill & Lounge.
Yep! you heard it right! This is your opportunity to bask in the glory of this elixir of life in any form you like; desserts, drinks and food!
The Coffee Cuisine Promo at Mövenpick Hotel Colombo kicked off last Monday (2nd of March) and here's a sneak peek at what to expect based on the quick look we had.
Our Experience
From Tuna Poke and Salmon Sashimi to Lamb Loin and Duo of Beef the menu looks super interesting, appetising, and quite impressive. More importantly, all of them include a good dose of coffee, which is the ultimate flavour enhancer of these sessions.
Wrapped in rice paper, the Fresh Spring Rolls featured a heap of veggies and positively plumpy scampi and was served with a helping of cold-brew espresso. A refreshing change for the usual deep-fried kind coupled with soy/chilli sauce.
Generously rubbed with coffee and herbs, the lamb loins were done medium well, just as we asked for it. Succulent and juicy, the meat had shades of pink that grew darker as it reaches to the middle, while leaving lighter shades around the outer layer. Make good use of the chilli-ed up potatoes, tarragon mustard, and the salad for extra flavour.
The Spring Cassoulet was an assortment of chicken, couscous, Meaux mustard, vegetables, and cappuccino emulsion. Grilled to absolute perfection, the meat itself was slightly firm from the outside and tender from the inside while the cappuccino works its charm.
Our dessert was a scoop of Mövenpick's very own Espresso Croquant, dusted with coffee, and served with a few chunks of puff-pastry.
It's an exciting, unique culinary experience that would take you on a gastronomical adventure in the most unanticipated way. Whether it be a coffee-loving soul or a lover of good food, Mövenpick Hotel Colombo welcomes both for their Coffee Cuisine Promotion that takes place every day of March, from 12.00 PM – 11.00 PM. Do check it out!
