Java Lounge
Java Lounge has 6 branches in Colombo, and pretty much all of them provides a quality environment to work in. We recently visited their Nugegoda branch, which is the tiniest one of all, and still managed to work for about 5 hours straight without any interruption. The WiFi is better than before, but you can always bring a router of your own and plug it in.
Monkeybean Cafe
Monkeybean has nice coffee, yummy paninis with a Lankan twist, and one of the best hot chocolates in town. All these, coupled with their work-friendly environment will definitely make your hours efficient.
Cafe Mocha (by Barista)
The ambience at the Cafe Mocha by Barista is the best thing about it. Quiet, low-key, plenty of space with comfortable seating, it's ideal to get some work done.
Cafe Rafaella
Gushed with greenery and shaded with a canopy of passion fruit vines, Cafe Rafaella blends an excellent mix of nature and soothing vibes, along with their amazing pasta, pizzas and coffee, to boost up your workday.
The Cauldron
With ample seating, the Cauldron has been keeping its food and service consistently well for the past few years. The space here is broken up into three main rooms, and two of them are relatively private, which will give you the peace of mind to get your office work done.
Nature's Corner Cafe
Nature's Corner, a shop and a cafe, promotes everything organic – from natural produce, healthy food and drinks to cosmetics, herbs and haircare products, in the most eco-friendly, toxin-free way. The cafe part is cosy, spacious and makes good use of the sunlight that seeps through its gigantic glass walls.
Kaffeine By RE.PUB.LK
The Kaffine is a secret hideaway of a cafe in Colombo Fort, and one of the best picks for food and coffee in the area. In here, you get to shut yourself from the world for a minute and take a break from all the dilemma, which is perfect when you want a minute or two to gather your thoughts.
E-Cafe
E-Cafe has many quiet corners where you can grab a comfy chair that hugs your back and get to work. Their space is massive, with private rooms and a balcony upstairs, and pretty much all the chairs have a plug point next to them.
Coco Veranda
The chic and tasteful ambience at the Coco Veranda is always a highlight, and their food has its moments. The veranda counterpart suits better for work, especially when it's vacant.
Black Cat Cafe
Black Cat Cafe has some incredible food, great coffee and also, terrific WiFi, as well as power outlets near certain tables. Plus, it's spacious, has well-lit rooms, and gives off homely vibes.
KIKU
KIKU's superbly curated menu offers an experience like no other. They've invested a lot in perfecting the dishes – their flavours and looks, so you're bound to have a fantastic meal, no matter what you order. Lots and lots of natural light filters through its loft-like interior, enhancing the ambience, which will surely help you to activate your work-mode.
However, they tend to get busy close to lunch time, but still one of the best options in the city to plug in your laptop and engage in some quick work.
Bakes By Bella
A slice of Bella's cakes or a savoury treat off their brunch/dinner menu will most definitely improve your taste for work. They have power outlets near chairs to set up your laptop and make the work happen. The shelf in the pictures has interesting reads, if you wish to take a break in between.
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf
The Maitland Crescent branch of Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf tends to get crowded, so we suggest going for the Dematagoda, Liberty Plaza Podium or Galle Road branch, which provides better working atmospheres.
Seed Cafe
Seed Cafe is one of the most aesthetically pleasing cafes that Colombo has ever seen. It's pretty as a picture, really, and crafts up some spectacular food and even better coffee to fit the bill. With an abundance of sunlight seeping through, this space is perfect for when you're looking for a fancy brunch or just to get a cup of coffee and get working.
Brew 1867 by Dilmah (Colombo 07)
At a glance, Brew 1867 in Colombo 07 may look like another takeaway spot, but make sure to check out the upstairs. It's a huge dining space with a variety of chairs, which works out quite well even when you're working as a team.
Café by Raffles
If "work-with-a-view" is what you have in mind, check out Café by Raffles. It has natural light aplenty, all thanks to the great location overlooking the Beira lake in Nawam Mawatha. The food and drinks are quite affordable too.
Tea Avenue
The successful, local cafe chain, Tea Avenue arranges satisfactory working surroundings in most of their branches. Make sure to order a cup of their excellent Mocha as you plonk yourself in front of the laptop here.
