The Presidential election this Thursday means a bit of
uncertainty. A few people are staying home and most are probably not going
out as much as usual. A lot of places are closing for Thursday and Friday,
but a few places are not.
What we’ve highlighted here are places that deliver – assuming there’s
no curfew.

Quickee.lk
Thank god for Quickee. Although in my personal experience, they’re not
usually so quick with delivery, at least they get the job done. This
election period, the stuff on their website will all be available for
delivery (we recommend the
Paan Paan
platter
if you’re going all out and having a little poll-watching
house party) – except for
Avirate Cafe
(delivery on Thursday till 4PM, closed on Friday).

Harpo’s
Harpo’s is a classic. High quality pizza, reliable delivery. They’re working tomorrow and through the election, as is their Hot Wheels service which works with a few partner restaurants and can theoretically get you anything from anywhere (open). But we recommend their pizza.

OrderFood.lk
OrderFood
is the less popular version of Quickee, though they’ve regardless got
a lot of big eateries that deliver through them. The guy on the hotline
couldn’t tell us if all the restaurants on their site will be open (the
site tells you if a place is closed or not), but OrderFood will generally
function on Thursday (till 3PM) and Friday.

Domino’s
Domino’s is still popular as Colombo’s other fast food pizza joint (the
first being Pizza Hut). Don’t forget to get extra jalapeno.

Rocco’s
Rocco’s has got some good Italian wood-fire pizzas, alongside
competitors like
Domenico’s
and
Santore
. They won’t do delivery on Thursday, but maybe
Friday.

Pizza
Hut
Pizza Hut is everyone’s typical delivery choice and they’ll keep at it
this week too. Their hot garlic prawns pizzas are legit.

KFC
Kentucky Fried Chicken has been doing their thang in Colombo for ages
alongside oldies like Pizza Hut, so they’re available if you’re a fan of
their processed batterfried meat.

Chennai
Here’s another Indian place that does delivery, and you can order plenty
to stuff your face with and still spend less than Rs. 500.

Cafe Michaelangelo
Michaelangelo’s does some interesting ‘Sri Lankanized’ wood-fire pizzas,
and is one of our more favoured pizza delivery choices.

These guys won’t deliver this Thursday & Friday:
Stocking Up
Note that the 8th and 9th are dry days, so if you fancy a drink during
this time, you need to stock up today (Wednesday).
If you want to stock up on food (probably not necessary)
Branas
&
Beemas
have a
wide variety of affordable stuff, and
Shoppers Stop
is the best place for low-cost imported chocolates.
And if you want the ultimate bunkering down food, check out our
Instant-Noodles Guide
to help you pick the best
packets.
Happy Voting! If it’s your first time,
we’ve got a guide for that too
