Food & Drinks
The food menu here includes many seafood-based Sri Lankan curries, grilled seafood, sandwiches, pasta and a few non-seafood stuff – like Tandoori Chicken Biriyani and Grilled/ Fried Chicken. Since their speciality is seafood, we decided to choose from just that.
This is the Sea Crab Curry With Thati Paan & Pol Sambol, a combo dish they offer for Rs. 1350. If you're settling just for the Crab Curry, it's only Rs. 825.
Considering the flavours and quality we experienced, we'd say that it's a good deal. The crab curry was incredible, with a rich, thick, gooey gravy packed with spices and herbs. Spicy, zesty and with a lot of curry, we mopped up this whole gravy with their fresh thati paan (roast bread).
There was a good amount of meat in the crab too. The pol sambol contributed more spicy notes, along with a sour undertone.
We ordered the Grilled Fish Fillet (Rs. 1150) with Homemade Wedges. There were two sizable fish fillets, which were really dry in texture. Its seasoning was quite mild too.
The wedges were all right, but we'd have preferred some crispiness on them.

Kalapu offers a good range of super refreshing drinks. The Watermelon & Strawberry Juice (Rs. 375 for 200ml) was absolutely tasty, with lots of sweet watermelon and subtle hints of strawberry.
If you're into something on the sour side, go with the Narang & Passion fruit Juice (Rs. 325 for 200ml). By blending passion fruit and narang together, they've doubled the sourness, while mingling well with the natural sweetness of the two fruits.
Conclusion
Kalapu gives your money's worth with delicious seafood and drinks, and the ordering process is quite hassle-free too. While we have our reservations about their grilled fish, we highly recommend you get the Sri Lankan-style curried seafood stuff. The Crab Curry was enough testament to how they excel at crafting up those flavours.
