Today is not, as you may have noticed, the end of the world. The date that the Mayan Calendar runs out is actually December 21st, a date when everyone needs to get new Mayan Calendars. We hear the one from Suman Motor Works in Maradana is excellent.
Today is 12/12/12, or 12.12.12, the last repeating date of this century. The next time such a (symbolic and largely irrelevant) event will come around is 1/1/1 – January 1st, 2101.
So what?
One of the more interesting things to do today is to film yourself doing something and upload it to One Day On Earth archive. They’ve geotagged videos from 10/10/10, 11/11/11, etc.
Across the world people are getting married or having c-sections to deliver babies on this memorable day. Except in India, where the date is inauspicious.
All in all, thought, it’s really just a symbolic event. At least we all know the date for once. It’s almost Christmas, and time to make your plans for December and New Year’s Parties.
