South Lake Resort – a hotel located Down South that offers plenty of views at every turn you make.
Plush green gardens take over most of the space making this property a nature lovers dream and with a lake expanding over one side of the hotel is like the icing on top of the cake. With the lake reflecting the sky hues, its easy to get lost in the breathtaking sight the hotel has to offer.
As you enter the property, the main area houses the lobby and the restaurant along with the pool where you can have a nice dip right after a meal.
Surrounding the area, there are 12 chalets with each chalet having 2 rooms. The chalets are spaced quite apart that gives a sense of privacy.
The hotel is minimally decorated that gives out comforting vibes- its not the most modern but what one’s home would have.
Ambience
Our favorite part about the hotel is the location, the sounds of the waves from afar and the lush greenery surrounding the entire hotel. There’s always a strong breeze surrounding you at all times. You really do feel connected and in sync with calm, beautiful and relaxing nature. The staff also make sure to make you feel at home.
The Rooms
The Hotel has 24 Deluxe double/ triple rooms surrounding the property. You can get a room facing the lake, the swimming pool and easy access to the restaurant. All the rooms include all the basic amenities you would expect at a hotel.
These are standard rooms that are quite compact with the double bed taking most of the space. The large doors had natural light pouring into the room brightening up the room instantly once the curtains were drawn.
The interior decoration was simple and minimalistic, which can share a sense of crisp, clean, clutter-free and monochromatic look. The de-cluttering of space helps to de-clutter the mind and to create a sense of visual calm.
Apart from that, the rooms had all the basic amenities and was very neatly kept.

The Activities
- Game Room
We loved this concept, they had plenty of indoor games to keep us occupied in the time we spent there- from carom to foosball, they had it all.
This was something any man would envy to be in their bachelor pad. With the pool table in the centre to the large tv where you can have a go at games on the PS4 with your friends. If you do come with your family, this is an ideal place for your kids to be spending their time having fun while the elders can have some amazing food down at the restaurant.

- Boat Rides
The Drinks
- Southern Express
If you’re a huge fan of beer, you might find this drink interesting as this South Lake Resort special cocktail has its own fun, sour, lime-y twist. The cocktail consists of canned beer, Gin and Lime Juice. This was our second favorite cocktail from all the cocktails we tried.

- Arrack Sour
This drink is as sour as it gets. It included Ceylon Old Arrack, Lime Juice & Sugar Syrup. In our opinion, the sour taste of lime was a little too strong and overpowering. But if that’s what you like, then you might love this cocktail!

- Long Island Iced Tea
The Long Island Iced Tea was probably our favorite drink. It included gin, vodka, rum, tequila, triple sec, lime juice and Coca Cola. It was not as strong as the other 2 drinks we tried. It had a great balance of flavor and alcohol which we appreciated.

- Chocolate Milkshake
When we saw the milkshakes on the menu, we couldn’t resist trying one of them (Like most people) So we chose the chocolate milkshake. The milkshake was presented to us nicely. It had a scoop of chocolate Ice cream and a little bit of Milo powder sprinkled on the top and chocolate sauce around the glass. It wasn’t as chocolate-y and as creamy as it looked. But we would give it a 6/10 just for the chocolate lovers.

The Appetizers
- Sea Football (Complimentary)
This complimentary Sea Football appetizer that the chef served us tasted as great as it looks. It was super fresh, crunchy and crispy and we loved it. It was served with Thousand Island & BBQ Sauce as seen in the presentation.
- French Onion Soup
This soup was simple but tasted absolutely delicious and prepared us for the feast that lay ahead. The soup was served with a slice of crispy, cheesy ,onion toast which complimented the soup very well.
If you’re looking for something light but delicious for dinner, we highly recommend that you try the French onion soup at the Hotel.

- South Lake Signature Pizza
The South Lake Signature Pizza had a curry chicken topping, with finely cut pieces of capsicum, bell pepper, onion, tomato, pizza Sauce and Mozzarella Cheese. To be honest, this tasted like your homemade pizza. We enjoyed the topping but the pizza bread wasn’t the best. The crust wasn’t crusty enough, it tasted more like the unsliced bread we buy from a bakery. But if we had to rate it, we would give it a 6/10.

- Seafood Nasi Goreng
This was a personal favorite. The Indonesian rice dish was packed with flavor and was served with a fried egg, prawn crackers and chili paste. Could there be a better combination? It ticked all the boxes in terms of flavor, quantity and price. We highly recommend that you try this dish when you stop by the restaurant.
- Mixed Seafood Platter
We were very excited to try this dish. The dish came with servings of Fish, Crab, Calamari & Prawns with a side of French Fries, Salad & Butter sauces. The Salad and the French Fries tasted good. However, we didn’t enjoy the seafood. It felt like the Crabs, Prawns and Calamari hadn’t been marinated well and it lacked a lot of flavor. The Fish tasted slightly better than the other seafood.

- Chicken Cordon Blue
In case you didn’t know what Chicken Cordon Blue is, it involves chicken breast pounded until thin, layered with ham and cheese, rolled into a log, chilled, dredged in flour then egg, then breadcrumbs and deep fried. If I had to describe the Chicken Cordon Blue dish that we tried from the hotel, I would say that the chicken breast and the ham was soft and cooked well. In terms of taste, we would rate it 7/10. It was presented to us nicely and was served with a portion of boiled vegetables.

DESSERT
- Chocolate Brownie with Ice Cream
The Chocolate Brownie was fudgy and soft and went well with the scoop of vanilla ice cream we had been served. This chocolate delight also included some tracings on chocolate sauce as you can see in the picture. We recommend you try this dessert.

- Chocolate Mousse
Not only was the Chocolate Mousse presented to us beautifully, it also tasted delicious and was a great way to end the feast we just had. It was topped with chocolate sauce and as chocolate-lovers, the more chocolate, the better, right?
