AYU thé (Ayu branded tea) makes tasty bespoke blends of tea (strawberry, ginger honey, etc). They’re available at the Good Market on Thursdays or by delivery. Good either hot or cold.
Despite being a huge tea supplier, most Sri Lankans only consume two sorts of tea – plain or with milk. One young company has started blending their own unique mixes which are pretty tasty. They range from ginger honeycomb to cinnamon to mint to lemongrass to passion fruit to strawberries and cream.
We tried a few at the Good Market (in iced tea form) and they’re pretty tasty. They’re unique and thoughtful blends that complement the tea rather than overpowering it. AYU’s mixes also smell really good. They’re available at the Good Market on Thursdays from noon to 8 PM or by delivery every Sunday (call 777536907). 100g is Rs 500 and brews about 50 cups. 50g is Rs. 300 and serves about 25 cups.
Sri Lankan tea is big business and it’s nice to see a small upstart. They certainly make a new and interesting cup of tea.
