Bankhill Wellness Studio is located in the Olympic House right next to Independence Square. This hidden house of weights sits on top of Fortune Boat and it happens to be the cheapest and grimiest gym we’ve reviewed yet.
This wellness studio/gym is really small – two flights of stairs up and we wound up in a cramped rectangular room filled with gym equipment. In one corner was a middle aged man waving his hand gleefully at our searching expressions – he sat us down and gave us the rundown of the membership fees.
An annual membership costs Rs. 40,000 but they’re giving away a 20% discount which brings it down to an affordable Rs. 32,000 a year. There are 4 trainers in the gym at one time, for a personal trainer you have to pay 10,000 for 14 sessions. This officially makes it the cheapest gym we’ve reviewed so far, but is it worth the price?
This Bankhill is just a few steps away from Independence Square, which puts in right in between both the Royal Gym and Fitness First. Compared with the Royal Gym, the Olympic House Mini Studio is only slightly bigger. There is a slightly more mature crowd here but overall it’s missing a good gym atmosphere – which is essentially what keeps you from coming back.
The gym occupies only a single floor area and is accompanied by the smallest of changing rooms. A heads up – their bathrooms reek, I had to hold my breath the whole time I was in there – really quite appalling in terms of hygiene.
This is cheap, I mean really cheap. And the location is perfect. The facilities are way below par, but I guess that’s what you get for less than 3,000 a month these days. It’s not my cup of tea but if you don’t mind smelly, unsanitary changing rooms and a mediocre environment, check it out because they’ve invested in some really good equipment.
