Capello Salon has been around for ages, nestled in a leafy spot down Havelock Place. With light, bright premises, and some of the friendliest service we've come across, they're a solid option for hair styling and dressing in Colombo 05. You'll probably know them as the salon that styles Danu's hair, or a lot of music or dance shows in town.
Ambience
The salon itself isn't massive or uber-chic like some of the newer Colombo spots. You won't find vast amounts of glass or pumping EDM music, which is probably for the best.
Apart from the lovely little garden and foliage outside, we also liked the presence of tastefully arranged fresh flowers in every room.
Service
The service was some of the warmest and familial we've come across in Colombo. A lot of Colombo's higher-end salons leave you feeling dissatisfied, rushed, or condescended upon, but Capello's staff appeared to be genuinely friendly.
I opted for a simple wash and blow-dry, which came to Rs. 2500 (a smidgen less than most other high-end salons). After a chatty welcome, I was treated to a long and luxurious wash (and quick head massage), and then ushered to a chair, offered a drink, and asked exactly what I'd like done with my hair. Despite how horribly tangled my beach-tortured hair was, the assistants were careful and diligent, working out all the knots and using plenty of product to smooth it out.
After about an hour, I was all done, and quite happy with the results.
Conclusion
Given their central location, warm service, and general efficiency of the staff, I'd recommend Capello. We haven't tried out their new branch on Wijerama, but let us know what your experience is like and we'll be sure to swing by in the future!
