After spending a few months firing up their grill down Rosmead Place to whip up some excellent Chinese BBQ, David's Dangerously Delicious Char Siu now has branched out to the all-new food court at One Galle Face.
Given that it's a food court, they do not freshly grill the meats at the spot here, but nonetheless, we're happy to say that they managed to deliver the dangerously delicious flavours and the quality that they're well known for.
The BBQ
As you might already know, David's Dangerously Delicious Char Siu does both chicken and pork BBQ in two styles – Original and Chilli, and you can pair it with a rice bowl, or have it stuffed inside a submarine.
We opted for the Chilli Char Siu Chicken Rice Bowl (Rs. 790), and Original Char Siu Pork Submarine (Rs. 760).
On top of a mound of well-cooked, fluffy white rice lies a generous portion of barbecued chicken cut into pieces, a few slices of zucchini and a helping of hot kochchi sauce.
Juicy, slightly firm, but rightly so, the chicken was nicely cooked from the inside, while the outside had just the right touch from the grill, caramelising it to perfection. There was a subtle smokiness spreading through the meat, making things even more interesting.
The chilli sauce it had smothered with gave the sweet and spicy kicks, and you cannot go wrong with their excellent kochchi sauce, especially if you want to make it extra hot. If this helping isn't enough, you can purchase a tiny bottle of the said sauce for just Rs. 150.
The Original Char Siu Pork Submarine featured chunks of barbecued pork, riding alongside with slices of zucchini. All of them were stuffed inside a soft, airy submarine bun and offered with a shot of hot kochchi sauce.
Fatty, succulent and perfectly grill-kissed, the meat here was soft, delicious and had a delightful crispy crackling. I personally do not prefer the fatty cuts of pork, but if you're into that, you're in for a treat with this one. The zucchini adds a good crunch, and you can spice things up with a drizzle of hot kochchi sauce.
Service
The staff behind the counter was super friendly and quite efficient.
