While our usual Foot Rub haunt at Crescat Boulevard has sort of lost its lustre, the new and improved branch at ODEL is still in its pristine new glory. With about 6 reclining chairs and a couple of upright back massage chairs, it's a simple and small express massage spot.
Ambience & Service
The soft lighting, lilting music, and nice smells are still very much there, but the ambience is lightly spruced up since their move.
They also have plenty of products you can buy, from the deliciously natural Spice Island products to Ceylon Coconut Company's bottled thambili water (at a slightly nutty Rs 200 for 200 ML).
Meanwhile, their service appears to have improved at every point from the manager who takes your appointment to the actual massage therapist. We had a very relaxing and soothing 20 minute foot massage after a busy day, complete with a nice magazine, a warm towel and a little bottle of water.
The therapist adjusts the pressure and focus depending on what you need, but overall you're just maxing relaxing without having to give any input. We must mention that the noise from outside and from loud tourists coming in and asking for prices can be a tad annoying though.
Prices
Their prices have gone up a bit, you're now looking at about Rs. 1400 for a 20 minute rejuvenation foot rub, or about the same for a 20 minute head massage. There are other more expensive options too. However, you can get a 20% off if you have a HSBC Premier card.
Conclusion
This is a simple, walk-in foot rub spot after a day of shopping or eating at ODEL. Good service, relatively reasonable prices, and convenient. We couldn't ask for much more, except maybe a cup of tea and some silence.
