ZMAX offers up Italian, Arab and Indian food, along with a burger/ submarine station, gelato, and a few fresh juices. While the food isn't top notch, it's by far the best food-court food we've had. Their meat suppliers are GILLS, so it's all basically GILLS products in all their meals.
Food
There are four-five main restaurants and a juice station which also serves il Gelato. The Arab resto wasn't open yet when we popped in, but there was Asian Dragon, Spice South Asian, Italian Pizza and Pasta, and Grill (which basically served up burgers and subs).
We went for Chicken Fried Rice from Asian Dragon (Rs. 450), a Sicilian Pizza from the Italian pizza place (Rs. 600), and a Chicken Submarine from Grill (Rs. 770).
The fried rice was a very generous portion and would have been enough for two people. It wasn't dry nor did it taste generic, but the best part about this was the chicken which isn't what you always get at foodcourts — rubbery and dry. This was cooked with a tad more care.
Dili proclaimed the Sicilian pizza to be better than that at Pepper's. Definitely worth your 600 rupees, this has a decent amount of chicken topping it, bit of cheese, and a well-balaced sprinkle of veggies.
The Submarine was so-so, too dry, and too difficult to chew down. They'd used fried chicken akin to what's given at KFC or in a Chicken McCrispy, except that the chicken was too rubbery and dry in this case so it didn't go down really well.
Oh, they also sell Lamprais (Rs. 400), we got one for take-away.
This isn't really an authentic lamprais and is more of a yellow-rice with curried chicken and a few lamprais-like components. It's alright, but nothing to write home about.
We really did enjoy our gelato though.
Service and Ambience
This is where ZMAX stands out. The staff are incredibly friendly, they check up on you and request feedback, and are overall very courteous, polite, and helpful. They're still settling in though, and seemed a bit flurried behind the counters.
The space is large and clean, still sparkly new and bright. It's also nicely air-conditioned, and probably one of the few places at the Dutch Hospital where you could take a large crowd for a really quick and reasonably priced meal.
Conclusion
So far, so good. We'd recommend this place for the pizza and the quick lunch packs, and look forward to our official review a few months down the line.
