House On The Moon (Food Studio).

Crafting up a host of unique desserts, House On The Moon is a well-known spot in CCC's Food Studio. One might say that they are "out of the planet", as the name so subtly implies, and they are not wrong. With the neon light signboard that says "Dessert Bar", it's the first place you see as you enter the food court.

The Desserts

They've got two types of desserts – classic and modern. Every item on the menu is priced at Rs. 1400 plus taxes, and they are served with a teapot on the side. We Lankans are used to pairing cookies, biscuits, cakes, vada kinda nibbles with tea, but not heavy desserts, so this is quite an experience you get here.

There's also this special package dessert on the menu, and it comes with an amuse bouche, your choice of classic dessert, chef’s choice of dessert and fruits paired with tea.

This Moon Walk, that comes under the modern category is designed with a scoop of milk ice cream, yoghurt, coconut mousse, and cream cheese, placed on a bed of caramel iced whey crumble and nut butter. Initially, the dominating sour flavours of the ice cream hit your tastebuds, like you squeezed a slice of lemon on your palate. But then comes the sweetness of the nut butter, which helps to smoothen up the whole thing with the other elements.

The pear and orange flavoured tea would keep things elevated.
Deliciously whipped up from the finest German chocolate, the Chocolate Soufflé comes under their Classic range. It's served with a scoop of coffee ice cream, laid on Tonka bean powder, and garnished with passion fruit coulis.

Let's have a closer look, shall we?

Voila!

Warm, and pouring out with gooey melted chocolate at each poke, it's pure chocolate bliss. With a slightly firm exterior, the inside was soft and absolutely moist. It's like biting into a chocolate coated cloud, that effortlessly dissolves in your mouth.

The ice cream itself had a lush, buttery texture, enriched with the coffee notes, while the Tonka beans added a bit of vanilla caramel hit to it.

It takes exactly 16 minutes to make this delicacy, which they would let you know upon ordering. But trust us on this – it's so worth the wait.

Service

The ladies and the gentlemen behind the counter were super friendly. If you have any questions regarding the desserts, ask away – they are happy to assist.

Conclusion

House On The Moon is a bit expensive option for desserts, so it might not be your daily stop for sugar cravings. However, it brings desserts to a whole new level, so if you find yourself looking for something other than usual cakes and puddings, this is your spot.
