Killer Whales are apex predators that basically roam wherever they want to, but they’re rarely seen in Sri Lanka. However, Dolphin Beach – a resort in Kalpitiya – has reported seeing them on a whale watching run. What a treat.
Killer Whales, or Orcas as they should really be called, are some of the most majestic, intelligent and agile creatures on earth. They’re highly social, very smart and can roam more than 160km in a day. Still, they don’t usually grace Sri Lankan shores.
Most whale watching trips we get to see sperm whales, blue whales and definitely dolphins. Orcas are a rare and wonderful sight.
