laptop.lk is a website, but also a series of physical branches where you can buy a range of laptops. YAMU needed a laptop for coding and we managed to find one within our specs for Rs. 53,800. Which really isn’t bad, and the store and staff are nice.
You can check out their latest price list here. We’re interested in the low-end, and they have decently powered laptops for 50-60k. That means 14 to 15 inch screens (these are not netbooks), 300-500 GB hard drives, 2 GB RAM, and Windows if you want it. These are functional office machines, clocking in at 1.5 – 2.0 Ghz.
They also have full powered machines, costing around but rarely over a lakh and gaming rigs pushing 200,000.
The store itself (the Technocity Mega Store on Galle Road, Bambalapitiya) is well stocked and clean and the staff are attentive and nice. One was actually a YAMU reader, what up. They have another branch in Majestic City. There’s something called laptop.lk in the Supun Arcade, but apparently that’s a rogue operator.
