Lil’ Orbits at the Majestic City food court is a great stop for a packet of mini-donuts with a side of creamy chocolate dip. They also recently introduced pizza cones, which actually turned out to be pretty good.
Location
The Majestic City food court is one of the oldest food courts around, and thankfully it’s only gotten less and less dodgy over the years. There’s some pretty decent fast food here, including Peppers and Magic Corn. Lil’ Orbits on the far left corner of the court is a good choice for desserts after lunch.
The Food
The Lil’ Orbits that was once in Havelock Town may have been of dubious quality but their stuff is actually pretty good now. It’s one of my personal favourite places to have a quick sugar fix. You can get 12 donuts in a pack, for Rs. 250, which we’ve shared between two, with a tiny Rs. 50 thick, creamy chocolate sauce to dip them in. They’ve also got bigger donut packs and different dips (like vanilla and cappuccino). If you don’t feel like MC-ing it, you can order through Quickee.
The fudge puppies, which are supposed to be ‘Belgian waffles on a stick’, aren’t so amaze. They’re a little soggy, though the one we got had a very tasty sugar-coma-inducing coat of chocolate and dark roasted almonds. Lil’ Orbits is primarily worth going with for the donuts though.
EDIT:
A few months after our initial review, Lil’ Orbits have now introduced pizza cones, which is pretty neat. We tried out the chicken in hot garlic (Rs. 250), tandoori chicken (Rs. 250) and the spicy seafood marinara (Rs. 280). We weren’t sure quite what to expect but they turned out be pretty legit.
Each of them was very flavoursome with plenty of filling. Our favourite of the three was the seafood marinara which had a good mix of calamari and fish with a spicy sauce.
We don’t advocate cutting your pizza cone in half, but we did it just to see how much filling was actually in there. The only issue here is that for Rs. 220+ these are quite small, so you’d need to order at least three.
We also tried out their Oreo and Twix frosties (Rs. 380). These are really just milkshakes and they’re pretty decent. The flavour of Oreo and Twix come through well but we would have liked it creamier. They don’t come in the glasses shown in the image above, we got it delivered so we poured it into these which happened to be just the right volume.
Conclusion
Lil’ Orbits is pretty popular at the food court and for good reason. If you like your sugar rush as much as the next person, then the miniature donuts here are a safe bet.
