The Food
At Publis Legends, you'll find a range of rice & curry, fried rice, noodles and side dishes. None of them includes any flavour enhancers, but the finest spices and herbs.
We opted for a Chicken Rice & Curry (Rs. 450), Seafood Fried Rice (Rs. 385) and Devilled Prawns (Rs. 850).
The rice & curry packets are available only during lunch time. Served on a bed of white rice, there was a dal curry, Thai eggplant curry, tempered kankung, fried ash plantains, wing beans sambol, and of course, a hefty helping of chicken.
All of them were amazing. Featuring chunks of red chillies and a good dose of mustard, the dal curry had this lovely tempered touch to it, while the Thai eggplant curry was absolutely creamy and milky. The tempered kankung was deliciously spicy, especially with the sprinkle of chilli flakes, and the winged beans sambol added a bit of crunch.
We really enjoyed the fried ash plantains. It had this lovely sweet kick which made it a very wholesome meal.
The star of the meal was the Chicken Curry. Generously rubbed with spices and herbs, it was spicy, smoky, aromatic and all in all, incredible!
The Seafood Fried Rice doesn't look like much, but we assure you, it was quite flavoursome. Fluffy white rice tossed in with bits of carrots, shallots and eggs, it was nicely seasoned. There were prawns and batter-fried cuttlefish, but we'd like to see a little more of them.
A dollop of their homemade chilli paste and sauce certainly take this a long way.
The Devilled Prawns portion had about 15 prawns, soaking up the rich, sweet goodness of the sauce. We'd have preferred a little more tang in this, and a tiny spicy kick too, but hey, it's one good bite for your beer.
Conclusion
Fried rice and rice & curry – two dishes that we never really get sick of, and Publis Legends delivers some fine versions of them. Simply call at 0727688805 for orders.
