A welcome addition to the food court at Liberty Plaza, Rollo is dedicated to bringing to you a range of interesting rolled ice-cream. They also do a variety of paninis and crepes in their adjoining resto Oh La La (which we're planning to review soon).
The Ice-Cream
Who doesn't like Milo and ice cream?! Rollo has capitalized on this guilty pleasure of ours and come up with the Milo Mingle (Rs. 350). Milo powder infused into the ice cream, paired with choco balls, it was quite impressive. The ice cream base that had been used was a tad bit milkier than expected.
The same was the case with the Pani-Kaju (Rs. 400), but paired with the treacle and the cashews, it was a treat. They'd been quite generous with the cashews, but unfortunately, this wasn't one of our favourites. Although it sounds quite great, it was also a tad bit too sweet and milky, distracting us from the Pani kaju taste.
The Rollo Rocher (Rs. 550) was probably our favourite of the lot. A concoction made of crushed Ferrero Rocher chocolates, the flavour it gave off was quite brilliant. The texture too was a tad bit different; it was much thicker and chewy.
Service and Ambience
The outlet itself had a very pristine look to it, and the food court was quite clean and was as comfortable as a food court could get.
The service was quite fast and the staff were quite patient as we tried to decide on which one to get.
Conclusion
They can certainly infuse some more flavours to the ice cream base, but all in all, it's a convenient spot for a range of flavours of rolled ice-cream. If you're looking for something exciting and shaped to the Sri Lankan palate, Rollo it is.
