Rosewood Ceylon is a notable landmark in the Kalubowila area. A decades-old banquet hall, it has been a place of all kinds of celebrations, from birthdays to weddings to work functions. And now they have a commercial kitchen at the same spot, dedicated to crafting up some exquisite biriyani.

The Food
We received their 6-people Chicken Biriyani Sawan, accompanied by Raita, Mint Chutney, Tandoori Chicken, Brinjal Bhartha, Rogan Josh Gravy and Carrot Halwa for dessert.
Oh my! Look how massive it is! We instantly fell in love with it, simply because of the pleasing aroma it gave off. Cooked with a myriad of spices, herbs, and all that chicken-y goodness, the biriyani was so rich and flavourful.
The rice itself was of high quality, fluffy and light, and we’re amazed by the amount of chicken here. At least 1kg of chicken, cooked to perfection to have that juicy, fall-off-the-bone texture. While it says that it’s a 6-people sawan, we assure you, it can be easily shared among 8 people.
Rosewood Ceylon seems to do some excellent Tandoori Chicken. Smoky, firm, juicy and well tandoor-ed up to have those pretty charred spots, they tasted incredible.
This is perhaps the best thing that can happen to brinjals — the Brinjal Bhartha. It’s simply fire-roasted brinjal mashed with spices. Another smoky treat with a masala kick.
Fragrant and packed with spices, a splash of this Rogan Josh gravy intensifies the flavours of the biriyani to a whole new level. It was a wonderfully creamy gravy, that unifies the spicy and tangy elements at the right balance.
If you want even more flavour, make good use of the Raita and Mint Chutney.
Ah, Carrot Halwa! What a sweet treat it was! Rosewood Ceylon does proper justice to this beloved Indian dessert. Presenting a whiff of cardamon, the texture here was buttery, thick and gloppy, just as it should be. In terms of flavour, it was milky, sweet and featured a handful of crushed almonds and raisins on top. Perfect!
Conclusion
This biriyani by Rosewood Ceylon is an absolute steal for Rs. 5500. They also have a Mutton one available for just Rs. 6500. We highly recommend!
