Veering off from the classic and usual nutty varieties, September puts some interesting twists on brownies; like fruity and booze-infused ones.
How To Order
The ordering process is quite simple and smooth. You can drop a message to their Facebook page and they'll get back to you within a couple of hours. Their pickup point is in Battaramulla, but they do deliveries as well. We opted for the latter, and the delivery fee to Nugegoda was Rs. 250.
The Brownies
You have to order by tray, and each tray includes 12 pieces, which are very generous in size. We got our hands on two kinds; Jack Daniel's Brownies (Rs. 2000) and Raspberry Brownies (Rs. 2200).
If cannot decide between a fruity kick or something chocolaty, these Raspberry brownies are a happy medium. Each piece was embedded with raspberry in a manner that it doesn't overpower the good ol' chocolate flavour. Some of us preferred a bit more raspberry in the mix, but it did hit the sweet spot for me.
The texture of the brownies was spot on; we instantly fell in love with it. Featuring a light, thin crust, its base was perfectly fudgy, gooey, decadent and squishy moist. Every bite was rich with dark chocolate and had just the right amount of sweetness, while the bits of raspberry adding a teeny tiny tang.
The Jack Daniel's Brownies shared the same excellent crust, base and the sheer chocolatiness, along with a boozy zing that's not strong, but quite adequate.
A little more JD in the fray would have made all things right with the world, but hey, we're not complaining. In fact, we're waiting for our next office party to get another batch of this.
Conclusion
An absolutely must-try place for brownies in Colombo; we highly recommend September.
