Every year around this time, Spread A Little Love (SALL) starts campaigning to raise funds for their annual project Spread A Little Love. Spread A Little Love lives up to its name by providing essesntials and gift packs to all the patients at the Apeksha Hospital (Cancer Hospital Maharagama).
SALL began a long time ago in 1988 when someone decided to give a refreshing cup of sago to the female patients of the cancer hospital. This led to the humble beginning of SALL. Today Kamilka Perera heads this initiative with the help and support of family and friends who rally to help raise funds and create wide spread awareness about the project.
The Project
If you were unwell and cooped up in hospital for days and weeks and months on end especially during the festive season, wouldn't you love some company and some festive good cheer?
This is what SALL does. The project revolves around entertainment and sharing good tidings. SALL takes with them calypso bands which visits each ward with song and making merry. There will also be a magician/Santa and magic balloons entertain the pediatric wards.
All patients are given a gift bag containing essential items, such as milk powder, sanitary napkins, tea/flask etc. There are approximately 200 children, and 800 adult patients (both male and female).
Included in this project are those who are floor patients in the Temple hall as well as the hospice; both of which are adjacent to the main hospital.
Join SALL this year when they head towards the Apeksha Hospital with the hope of sharing good tidings to the sick and ailing and hopeless, to share some good cheer and fun times with children and adult patients
