Stick No Bills has a really cool collection of vintage posters, prints and postcards. They’re mad expensive for originals but their prints and postcards are affordable gifts.
The Stuff
Let’s start with the good stuff. They have original movie posters which costs hundreds of dollars. These include western posters (like Bond ones) that are printed posters from the original run and handpainted ones, which are usually India. They market these as an investment and are priced accordingly. For hotels or people who are into art, these are good finds, but they are expensive.
Besides that they have poster prints of Sri Lanka/Ceylon tourist type stuff which are very cool and cost Rs. 2,500 each (unframed).
They also have postcards for Rs. 350 each or Rs. 3,000 for 10.
Overall we think they’ve done a damn good job of curating cool stuff and offering products at different price ranges.
The Location
The main shop is on Church Street in the Galle Fort. Quite central, near Barefoot, Pedlar’s street, etc. They’re also quite accessible online. It’s a nice shop, small but pleasant to browse in.
Service
Can’t complain. The guy working there when we went wasn’t especially knowledgable or anything, but he was efficient enough.
Conclusion
Stick No Bills has a sick collections of posters and prints at different price points. They’ve preserved some really cool artwork and design and are worth a visit (in the Galle Fort).
