The Burgers
We grabbed two burgers – Stoner's Smoked Beef Burger (Rs. 720) and Stoner's Chicken Joint Burger (Rs. 800), accompanied by a helping of Fat Fries (Rs. 170).
Tucked in between the halves of a soft, sesame bun, the Smoked Beef Burger was comprised of an excellently prepared beef chuck patty (80/20) cooked with herb butter. You can choose the doneness of your beef – medium, medium well, and well done, and we decided on the first one.
Well-grounded and seasoned, the patty had layers of texture and flavour. With a chewy exterior, soft inner layers, and a juicy trace of fat, it had a wonderful way of pulling apart so beautifully. The drizzle of spicy mayonnaise and melting cheddar doubled that juicy aspect, while bringing in a lot of flavours.
The buns seemed to have been sitting on the grill for a while, which had given that nice, crispy texture.
This tower of a Chicken Burger is constructed with two brilliant chicken patties – Sweet Onion, and Nai Miris. The massive size of the patties was enough to justify the price tag, but what really did the trick was the amazing flavour they had.
While delivering on the promised flavour elements, these two patties managed to complement each other so well. The nai miris patty was rich with bits of the said pepper, which contributed a lot of heat to the flavour profile, while the Sweet & Onion kick it down a notch – just enough to create that perfect balance between sweet and spicy.
Overall, it leant on the spicy end of the spectrum, high on meaty factor too, while the caramelised onions and homemade spicy mayonnaise work their magic.
A bit oilier for our liking, but adequately salted, the Fat Fries were all right.
Conclusion
The prices may seem a bit hefty for a home-based venture, but it's well worth it. We recommend!
