Nestled in a deserted corner of Trincomalee Harbor, The Dutch Bank Café, is the first luxury restaurant to be opened since the end of the troubles.
The building traces its origins to colonial times, when it housed the old Dutch Bank. While restoring the building, much attention was paid to maintaining original details. Large windows that afford a great view of the harbor offset the charm of old brick walls. The rooftop seating cannot be missed.
The cuisine at the Dutch Bank Café ranges from Rs. 400-800, and their menu offers a range of Dutch inspired dishes. Be prepared for a heavy dose of mayonnaise. You have to try the beef frikkadel, it’s a tasty meatball. The pineapple chicken salad is also worth trying.
Head to the Dutch Bank Café to experience fine dining in a historical building.
