Places To Give
SocialService.lk has a few things planned this season. You can follow their Facebook page as they regularly update their events. On the 6th of December they are having an project in Anuradhapura for the development of two school School Development Project. Christmas For A Cause is a musical event that hopes to collect money by having this super sounding show. The performances include gigs by Randy Withana (better known as Randhir), Sheaam Deen, Nathan Eardly, The Slipping Chairs, Julius Mitchell, The Bakery and the Magicians Toolbox. The proceeds from this event will go towards the Preethipura Infants Home located in Wattala. Go for the musical show, it's free and donate to the cause. It's on the 12th of December at Lakpahana, Colombo 7.
What about the elders and the orphans? STITCH has got that covered this Christmas With Love. Each year they visit these homes and do what Santa does – provide gifts. So here's just the place to be a happy elf and give a gift of kindness towards the elderly and the orphans. Call STITCH on 0777 512 416 or 077 697 5553.
The Soup Bowl is throwing a Christmas party for 40 kiddies at the St Michael's Church. The kiddies come from the underprivileged homes from the surrounding neighbourhood. They are giving school supplies and toys and a meal on the 13th of December. If you wish to connect to donate or volunteer call 077 375 3132, 077 484 1134.
Smile Sri Lanka Charity Christmas Carnival 2014 will see 800 children from Vavuniya, Galle, Pilliyandala, Anuradhapura and greater Colombo coming together to a fun carnival. Each child will receive school books for the following year, a toy, ice cream, popcorn, soft drinks and all types of sweets. You can connect either by volunteering or donating Rs 1500 per child, to find out more visit their event page here.

The Gamini Matha Elderly Home located near the Gangaramaya is home to about 50 elderly males. You can call them to find out what they require. 112 682 397, Email: colomboymba@sltnet.lk
The Brohier Elders Home is home to 18 or so elderly gents. The Home is located in a lil forgotten corner in Wellawatte. They would love some company. Most gents have family and some don't have any one. You could either take a meal or something for tea. Your time alone would be a blessing to them. Call the Matron for more information 077 4170 029.
Lady Fareed Home located in Makola, is home to about 20 elderly aunties and uncles. You can make their lives a pleasanter by spending some time with them. For more information contact 11266800 or email ifham@maliban.com
The little infants at Sarvodaya Suwasetha would definitely benefit with gift hampers of baby items and milk powder. You can call them on 112 655 255.
The Rani Violet Home located in Moratuwa is home to 26 odd elderly ladies and gents. They love the company more than anything but the home always has basic needs. Some Christmas cheer would also do them plenty good. Call the matron on 114 871 349 to find out more.
