JU Caterers has a takeaway and dine-in outlet on Ward Place that serves up clean and tasty rice and curry. The regular rice and curry is Rs. 190, we tried the yellow rice for Rs. 250. It’s all very good and the place is packed, you need to get there before one.

First off, it’s on Ward Place, one of the posher streets in Colombo (nearer the Kynsey Road junction). Second, it’s quite clean and efficient inside.
How’s the food? Pretty good. Generous hunks of chicken, well seasoned. Savory brinjal, good purripu, very simple egg. If you get the rice and curry there’s also pol sambol, among other things. Like everywhere else there’s a bit too much rice but besides that it’s a quite satisfying meal, and leaves you without any feelings of regret afterwards.
As far as buth packets go, this is a good one.
