‘Lemon Colombo! Sounds new? Well, it sure has to be because this is the new ‘one stop spot’ in Colombo, to try out many of your favorite dishes at one place. This multi-cuisine restaurant was launched recently in Hyde Park Corner.
No. 69, down Hyde Park Corner is where this hot spot is located and has already become a place that many of the Colombo folks visit to satisfy their lunch and dinner cravings.
Lemon Colombo has provided space for 4 restaurants unique to each other. We got our hands on various dishes from each of those restaurants and this is how it went:
1. Lemon Cuisine:
Deviled Chicken, Nasi Goreng, Chicken Kottu and the Hoppers Platter were what we tried from Lemon Cuisine. Hands down all of these were our favorites because we couldn’t choose one to not like out of them.
Chicken Kottu was spot on with its fusion of spices, flavors, and texture. It was plated with slices of Cucumber, Salad Leaves and Tomatoes on the side, I’m sure to neutralize the spices if it’s too much.
Nasi Goreng had its rice cooked very well, mixed in well with the sauces, veggies and other ingredients. That too was topped with a Fried Egg Bullseye, and on the sides were slices of Cucumber, Tomatoes and Fried Papadam.
Deviled Chicken was the perfect accompaniment for Nasi Goreng on the side, but the dish itself alone was perfect. Tender chicken pieces were roasted/fried to perfection and the gravy made it a fun ride for our taste buds!
Last but not least we tried the Hoppers Platter. The platter consisted of 4 egg hoppers and 8 plain hoppers. While the egg hoppers were crispy to the core and the egg was well cooked inside, we found the plain hoppers to be too soft and less crispy. It came along with a portion of Lunu Miris and Chicken Gravy, and once dipped in both, that one bite of the hoppers was enough to satisfy our Sri Lankan taste buds.
2. Groove Oven
Groove Oven is well known for its Pizzas so of course we tried few of their best off their varying menu.
- Meat Ranch / Beef with Corn Half & Half Pizza
The “Meat Ranch / Beef with Corn Half & Half Pizza” was a fusion of flavors, delightfully oven baked with crusty edges which we always love. The meaty side had a variety of meats like Chicken, Sausages and Beef, along with Bell Peppers to add that savory on top. The Beef with Corn half was entirely filled with Ground Beef and Sweet Corn, which definitely had a subtle sweetness and a pleasant crunch. The contrast between the two halves was uniquely enticing. If you enjoy both meaty and slightly sweet flavors on your pizza, this one is worth a try. The small size is perfect for a personal treat or sharing with a friend. And so, it’s safe to say that Groove Oven has certainly crafted a pizza that stands out for its creativity and taste.
- Golden Triple Cheese Pizza
Considered the epitome of Indulgence, “Golden Triple Cheese” pizza from Groove Oven, is rich with not one, not two, but three types of cheese, and certainly promises a luscious and creamy flavor profile that cheese lovers will adore. What sets this pizza apart is the addition of edible gold powder or dust to perfect its taste as well as its looks. It adds a touch of extravagance and elegance to each slice and it does not only make it visually stunning but also adds on a subtle, metallic note to the overall flavor.
We would recommend this pizza especially for the ones celebrating special occasions, because this one here is filled with extra love, extra care and extra cheese too.
- Cheesy Garlic Bread
The classic “Cheesy Garlic Bread”, but with extra cheese and extra garlic, is one satisfying appetizer you can get at Groove Oven. This classic crowd-pleaser that never goes out of style will be sure to whet your appetite. The bread itself is toasted to perfection, crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy inside. The garlic seasoning/paste is generously applied and the layers of cheese melted on top perfected the entire dish. The cheese forms a gooey, golden, and slightly crispy crown that bonds well with the savory garlic notes and so each bite offers a blend of textures and flavors that satisfied our taste buds.
3. Lemon – Beverages
It was truly an enticing experience overall at Lemon. Their menu featured a range of beverages and desserts, each promising a unique taste experience. From fruity mojitos to yummy milkshakes and classic hot chocolate, Lemon offered a variety of flavors to explore.
- Strawberry Mojito
Refreshing twist on the classic mojito; this combination of fresh strawberries, mint, and lime gave out an invigorating fusion of flavors. It’s a perfect choice for those who enjoy a fruity and slightly tangy mocktail.
- Peach Mojito
Sweet and aromatic; and the addition of peach to the traditional mojito gave this mocktail the modernized twist it was looking for. It can be a great choice for those looking for a milder and more delicate flavor in their cocktail.
- Lemon Mojito
If you’re a fan of zesty and citrusy flavors, this is a fantastic option. This classic combination of lemon and mint can be your ideal drink to end a hectic day of work.
- Cookie Milkshake
This was indeed a treat for our sweet tooth. The blend of cookies into a creamy, thick shake, resulting in a luscious dessert drink, can be anyone’s perfect choice to satisfy their sweet tooth.
- Hot Chocolate
As comforting as it sounds, and everyone’s classic choice, we expected it to be our cherry on top. However, we did not enjoy it as it did not live up to our expectations. It was slightly cold, bitterly, and too thick, which we did not enjoy much.
Overall, Lemon offers a diverse range of beverages that cater to various tastes and preferences. Whether you’re in the mood for a fruity and refreshing mojito or a comforting milkshake, they seem to have the potential to satisfy your cravings, making sure the experience is worth every rupee you pay for it.
4. Agora Munchies

With a menu that pushes the boundaries of creativity and flavor, Agora Munchies offers a world of delights waiting to be discovered. - Royal Munchies Burger
Staying true to its name, this jumbo burger was indeed Royal, not just from the name, but from its fillings to its toppings too. A tossed bun served with Crispy Chicken, Chicken Pattie, Double Cheese, Iceberg Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions, Agora Signature Burger Sauce, topped with the Royal Gold Edibles, is more than what you could ask for, for an Imperial Experience at Agora Munchies.
Royal Munchies is the ultimatum or the ultimatum when it comes to Burgers at Agora Munchies and the flavorful fusion of it may make you leave the restaurant with a ‘Be Back Soon’ note, I’m sure!
- Agora Platter
Big groups require big dishes and so Agora Munchies has created a Platter than can serve all your friends in one go (Ideal for 5 pax).
The platter consisted of French Fries, Toasted Garlic Bread, Sausages, Crispy Chicken Tenders, a Salad and their in-house sauce for the dip.
While we loved the French Fries and Sausages, we found the Crispy Chicken Tenders to be slightly soggy and soft. The toasted garlic bread too was crunchy and we absolutely loved the dip sauce, no questions asked!
Their menu spreads across Burger, Subs, Sandwiches, Toasted Bread Crunch, Combo Bites, Salads and many more options. The overall experience for us at Agora Munchies was worth the price one would pay for, and definitely recommended for folks around Colombo and suburbs to come and indulge themselves in a ‘try it all’ unforgettable experience.
