There's a little shop in Abdul Hameed Street, Hulftsdorp, which sells imported goods at pretty reasonable prices. I think it's called L.F. Goods (or foods, sorry) and they sell candy, lollies, cordials, and a plethora of sweets which you'd get at Candy Planet for about a hundred times that price.
We found some basil seed infused drinks (grape with basil, passion fruit with basil etc) for Rs 200 a bottle.
Kinita was grossed out and said it looked like eyeballs or tadpole sacs, and someone else at work gave it a similar comparision; but pshaw, it looks a lot like kasa-kasaa and I'm pretty sure it is just that — pretty much the same thing you find in faludas.
The drink in itself is very interesting. Yes it's a tad (just a tad I swear) slimy, but that's because of the seeds (obvs).
You get the grape flavour quite strongly, and it isn't overpoweringly sweet. It's quite refreshing, actually. A few of the colleagues were grossed out by it, but they changed their minds soon after tasting it, so it's a win.
We'll try doing a review of that shop soon, too.
