So. Now you can order pizza through the YAMU app. The tech part is pretty simple, what's key is that our partner Harpo's A) makes good pizza and B) has good delivery and C) is invested in checking your orders and delivering them.
The way the system works is that it sends a message to the Harpo's call center, but we have extra protections such that an email goes direct to Harpo's and me (Indi) at YAMU which ensures that your order is processed. We also give you updates within the app on when the pizza order is processing, when it's cooking and when it's on the bike.
We've tested it for a few weeks and it works. It delivers pizza. After a while we actually started ordering pizza when we didn't really want because the process was so much simpler than digging up a menu and making a call.
You can try it out now. First, you need an Android or iOS smartphone/tab. Windows should be coming in a month. Then you need to make sure you have the latest update, you can go to the app store and check.
Then you'll find a 'Delivery' option in your menu. You need to login via FB or Google because we need some sort of authentication for this. We dropped the login part (the Android update has it, Apple should be within a few days of this post). Then you're in.
You can see Harpo's. Click on that and you're into the menu.
Choose the pizza you want, the size and any extra toppings.
If you want to add to your order click +Add More and you can loop again.
Then you enter your address and contact (only have to do it once, it remembers).
Then you place the order. I don't have a screenshot of that because I don't actually want a pizza right now. But that's how it works.
Try it out and let us know. We think it's both cooler and, for a limited time, cheaper than order via a phone call. If you have any problems email dev@yamu.lk.
