When it comes to ordering in, Colombo doesn’t really have the widest range of options; you’re generally faced with a choice of either pizza or Chinese. Which isn’t ideal, but it can work – pizza is good and Sri Lankan Chinese, well, it’s canonical.
There are two distinct camps when it comes to pizza in Colombo: the mass produced big names of Domino’s and Pizza Hut, and the more artful, slim crusted wares from Harpo’s, Rocco’s and Michaelangelo’s. While we tend to stick with the latter set, they can be more expensive and sometimes elusive in terms of ordering (Rocco’s and Michaelangelo’s are only available after 5 PM). There’s also something to be said for a greasy, cheese-laden pie from Pizza Hut – while it may not be the finest in quality or convey the most delicate of flavours, well, people still like it.
So if you’re ordering in, here’s a brief guide to pizza delivery in Colombo.
Harpo’s
0114 869 000
Harpo’s is one our top choices for delivery. While Rocco’s and Michaelangelo’s are great, they only deliver after 5 PM. Harpo’s has a wide menu with excellent toppings and they deliver reliably – think lamb, prawn salami, sun dried tomatoes, ricotta. Definitely worth a call.
Prices range from about Rs. 1000 – Rs.1400 for a 9 inch and Rs. 1200 to Rs 1800 for a 12 inch. They also do family sizes (18 pieces) from Rs. 3000 to Rs. 4800.
Caffe Michaelangelo

Caffe Michaelangelo’s is excellent. While their menu isn’t as exciting as Rocco’s – no parma ham, Italian salami, chorizo (basically no pork) – the pizzas are still the stuff of wood-fired excellence. The bases are slim, stretched into firm yet brittle crusts, and the toppings are well-strewn and generous.
Prices range from Rs. 700 for a 9 inch to Rs 1600 for a 12 inch.
Rocco’s
0722 012 121
From what I hear, Rocco’s is very good. We’ve only ever tried the bacon, which is decidedly not good, but they’re other stuff is meant to be excellent. Like Harpo’s and Michaelangelo’s they use more adventurous ingredients – parma ham, ricotta cheese, sundried tomatoes. Sadly, they’re only open from 5, but still worth a call if you’re in need of dinner.
Prices range from about Rs. 1000 to Rs 1600.
Domino’s
0117 777 888
In the great Domino’s Vs. Pizza Hut debate, I’d go for Dominos. There’s no scientific reason for this, it’s just a personal preference. They’re both pretty much the same in terms of oily flavour and efficient delivery, but Domino’s has the more interesting garlic bread with a gooey, cheesy dip and I’m partial to their calzone.
Prices range from about Rs. 400 for a small to Rs. 1400 for the big ones.
Pizza Hut
0112 729 729
Pizza Hut have generally got the service down – they’re quick, efficient (card readers!) and you can even order using an app. The wedges are good, so is the chocolate lava cake. The pizza is more or less what you’d from a franchise – big, flavourful and impersonal and on the odd occasion a hardened over disappointment. Still, they’re well liked.
Prices range from about Rs. 400 for a small to Rs. 1400 for the big ones.
