When it comes to marketing Sri Lanka, a horde of travel bloggers is a modern way to do it. Hence we’re very happy that Cinnamon Hotels has organized Asia’s first Travel Bloggers Conference (TBC Asia), which starts tomorrow. We’ll be joining them over the weekend as they tour Habarana, Sigiriya, Kandy, Beruwela and more. You can follow along here (on this website) or via the hashtag #TBCAsia.
The panelists they have for the conference include execs from TripAdvisor, BBC Travel, Google, etc, but what’s perhaps more interesting are the 40 hosted bloggers coming down, as well as more paying attendees. If each of them has an average of 5,000 followers across whatever medium, that’d be 200,000 for the period of this conference. At least. The viral load for Sri Lanka this weekend may be high.
If you’d like to just follow along, it should be an interesting trip to follow online. What’s the most interesting is the followers these travel bloggers bring with them, and the impression that will create for Sri Lankan tourism. We’d like to warmly welcome all the travel bloggers now on our island. We hope you have a wonderful time.
