Yet another gloomy weekend is here. Skim through our list of weekend recommendations to make it a good one!
Blackout Restaurant & Cafe
Colombo's first and only rugby-themed cafe is here. Located down Ward Place, the Blackout Restaurant & Cafe features a collection of rugby t-shirts, rugby balls and everything else that are rugby related, alongside the superb food and drinks. Their Mutton Burger is a must-try, the Fish & Chips is one of the best in Colombo, and this place is also a safe spot in town for a coffee lover.
House Vandervort
If you live around Dehiwala, and are looking for a family dinner out this weekend, House Vandervort is your best pick. It's a colonial house flipped into a restaurant, so the ambience is truly a highlight here. Their speciality is Asian fusion (mainly), and aside from that, they also offer cafe food, and booze under the same roof.
The Hawker Park (Trillium Hotel Colombo)
This is our recommendation for a drinking spot this weekend. Situated amidst the busy city of Colombo, The Hawker Park is Trillium Hotel Colombo's very own bar. They do some good food – the Peri Peri Chicken and Crackling Pork Belly had us drooling. With a range of cocktails, this is one affordable spot for your boozy fix this weekend.
The Barnesbury
One of the oldest cafes in town, The Barnesbury revamped their menu a while ago, so you might want to check it out again. We recently dined in here, and we particularly enjoyed their Shrimp Po Boy, a sandwich stuffed with crispy batter-fried prawns, lettuce, tomato and pickles. A tangy, seafood-y treat!
Mad Curry Skills by Chari
Craving for Nasi Lemak/Lamprais this weekend? Try Mad Curry Skills by Chari. This is a home cook that whips up these rice-centred goodies and delivers to your doorstep. Their Prawn Nasi Lemak is what we loved most.
