Saveira Indian Restaurant
A relatively new addition to the restaurant scene in Colombo, Saveira does some incredible Indian food for a very affordable price tag. Their portions are quite generous, and we particularly enjoyed the Chicken Tikka Masala which was oozing out with spices and flavours. If you're looking at a family dinner out on a budget this weekend, this is a solid option.
Oriental Gourmet (One Galle Face)
Oriental Gourmet in One Galle Face is easily the best choice for your hot pot cravings. For just about Rs. 3500, you can easily cook yourself a bubbling bowl of hot pot by throwing in generous helpings of veggies and proteins of your preference. And it's sharable between two. We highly recommend their fiery red Chilli Spicy broth that's loaded with red chillies and pepper.
Diner's Delight
This is another pick for your Indian food cravings this weekend. What we loved most about Diner's Delight is their Butter Chicken Masala, which would go well with just about anything – from roti to biriyani.
Gourmet Lanka Deli (One Galle Face)
Gourmet Lanka Deli at One Galle Face curates food for busy folks who are unable to find time to sit down for a proper meal. From ready-made biriyani and lasagne to a number of desserts, they've got over 80 varieties of them. We absolutely enjoyed the Chicken Biriyani, the Belgian Milk Chocolate Mousse, and as well as the Chocolate Swiss Roll.
The Blue Swan
The good old Blue Swan operates from their home base now, but still seems to deliver the simple, yet hella delicious goodies that they are well-known for. The ambience is homely as it can possibly get, and their Waffles with Lovi Jam is one of the best combos you can hope for this weekend.
CheeseHeads (Food Studio – One Galle Face)
Turophile or not, CheeseHeads is a good place to grab a filling snack if you find yourself in One Galle Face. Almost everything they make has a good dose of cheese infused in it, and you cannot go wrong with their Mac n' Cheese. Plus, they do a good Chicken Burger too.
Ignite Pizzeria
If you live around Wattala, stop by Ignite. This pizzeria does excellent quality thin crust pizza made from a clay oven, and we're all for it. They have two types of pizzas – Authentic Italian and Sri Lankan Infusion, so you're spoilt for a choice here. Our Chicken Kochchi Pizza packed a nice spicy punch drawn from all the chilli flakes and kochchi miris infused in it, and their Four Cheese Pizza was superb too.
British Pub & Fish N’ Chips (One Galle Face)
One of the best things about British Pub & Fish N' Chips is the sheer range of dipping sauces they offer on the side of your Fish & Chips. In fact, they have ten of them which take inspiration from different fares – Japanese Wasabi, NY Anchovies, Sri Lankan Seeni Sambol and Mayo, and Indian Butter Masala to name a few. Their Fish & Chips is one of the best we've had and you can get two sauces to accompany it with. This is a good spot for your Saturday tipple.
