This coffee shop located in Old Moor Street, Pettah is a must for any authentic coffee addicts. The shop opens at 9 AM, so unfortunately only locals who work in the area will be able to grab some decadent coffee that has been brewed to perfection. They even use the Wijaya Products coffee powder to make a traditional Sri Lankan coffee so if you crave a taste of home, you can drop in to The Beans Coffee Factory for the perfect brew.

2. The Commons Coffee House

This is a tried and true coffee shop that anyone in Colombo has heard about, if not been to, at least once. Since the shop opens at 8 AM, this one is an easier option to get your coffee fix. You can even grab a good breakfast to go with it. You can choose to take a breather before a hectic work day and enjoy a full English breakfast paired with an espresso, or even get a cheesy egg and bacon roll to bite into along with a chocolate and mint cappuccino to enjoy while you are stuck in traffic.

3. Java Lounge

You can also step into one of the outlets of Sri Lanka’s largest coffee chain to grab your morning fix. Java Lounge has branches in Nugegoda, Bambalapitiya, Jawatte, Barnes Place, Nawala and Fort so wherever you have to work, you’re sure to have an option within walking distance to enjoy your coffee.

If you’re feeling traditional, you can get the Americano or if you like to mix and match, you can even get a Java cookie cream frap. This is also the only shop in the list that opens at 7 AM, so you are guaranteed not to be late for work.

Another coffee house chain, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is more popular for their signature ice blended options and moist cakes that are a bit on the pricier side. But it’s a quick and easy option before you head to work. The shop opens at 8.30 AM and you can get a hot brew to wake you up despite the popularity of their iced brews. They also offer an ultimate breakfast that you can indulge in if you have some time before work to take a breather.

Located centrally, this coffee shop opens at 9 AM and offers simple options to the indecisive. Their menu is not complicated so you can make an easy choice on which coffee will be your morning fix. They also have several handmade food items you can pair with your coffee for breakfast. If you have a sweet tooth, their cakes come highly recommended, both for their size and taste, so you will be all set for your hectic work day.
