We are always on the lookout for exotic new flavors, that probably is why we always want to try a new restaurant or maybe try making something new at home. At times our tastebuds mean everything. So, we will take your tastebuds on a 7-day tour with our guide on what to eat and where.
Day 01: Authentic Thai Cuisine
Thai cooking places much emphasis on strong aromatic components that have a bit of a spicy edge. It is also known for its balance of many flavours in one dish: spicy, sweet, sour salty and bitter. It is the art of cooking that creates harmony among the variety of flavours.
Speaking of authentic Thai food it’s Siam House that comes to my mind. Located at No. 17, Melbourne Avenue, Colombo 04, Siam House serves Appetizers, Soups, Salads, vegetable and meat curries. Do not forget to try their authentic Tom Yum seafood soup, you will not be disappointed. You can dine in, take away or get it delivered.

Day 02: Japanese Food
Looking for authentic Japanese food isn’t an easy task in Colombo. Situated at No. 14, Narahenpita Road, Colombo, Naniyori is easy to locate and serves a good menu.
Their bento comes with 5 Nigiri, 12 Maki, Kaizen don and pickled vegetables. the food is delicious and its value for money. You can dine in, take away or get it delivered.

Day 03: Authentic Chinese Food
You may have already noticed that you can find a Chinese restaurant in almost every street in Colombo. Most ‘Chinese Food’ have been ‘Sri Lankanised’ to suit the local pallet. If you want to try authentic Chinese food, then you have to visit Xilaton Chinese Restaurant. It is situated in the heart of Colombo at No. 126, Havelock Road, Colombo 05.
They have a great menu ranging from Noodles, rice, meat dishes various types of clay pot casseroles. They also serve alcohol, if you want to sip a glass of wine till your food is being prepared. Day 04: American & Mexican Food
If you are in a mood to taste Mexican food with a twist then you must visit Chili’s Grill and Bar. They serve a mix of Southwestern-inspired classic American favourites full of delicious flavour that you absolutely cannot resist. You can choose from sizzling Fajitas, Burghers, fresh Mexican rice bowls to tempting chicken Quesadillas, Tacos, Crispers and loads more.
They serve excellent Mocktails and Margaritas, don’t forget to order one while you wait. I must not forget to add that they play some very nice music. You can dine in, take away or order via UberEats or PickMe.

Day 05: Authentic Indian Food
All of us love to indulge in some Indian food every now and again. If you ask someone what their favourite Indian dish is, the answer more often than not is, “Chicken Tikka Masala”. But there is so much more to Indian food! Pakoras, Samosas, Vadas, Naans, Dosai, Chana Masala just to name a few.
A place that serves all the above other than the chicken tikka masala is Dwaraka Indian Vegetarian Food. You will not miss your favourite meat curry when you taste what Dwaraka has to serve you. You can dine in or take away.

Day 06: German Cuisine
If you want to eat a steak after having a vegetarian diet the previous day, The Bavarian is the place to go to. The food is delicious and their portions are generous. A must-try is the mixed grill platter.
They have a wide range of meats to choose from, take your time to go through the menu and if you are not sure of what you are ordering a member of the staff will assist you. A friendly tip is, always be sure to make a reservation to avoid disappointment.

Day 07: Authentic Sri Lankan Cuisine
When you try food from various places for 6 days, you will always want to enjoy a home-cooked meal or something that tastes like home. Rasa Bojun is a homely restaurant where you can enjoy true Sri Lankan flavours.
You can choose anything from yellow rice with Black Pork curry or Chicken curry, Cashew filled Lamprais served with pork curry, Fried egg, Tempered Eggplant/Brinjal served with a fish cutlet and Maldive fish sambol or maybe you just want to eat a plain and simple rice and curry, Rasa Bojun has it all.
