Are you one of those people who would like to pick up stray dogs off the streets and take them all home? YAMU met a bunch of people like that last week at the Girls Guide Association. The type of people who rescue dogs, care for them, sterilise them, feed them and re-home them.
It was Adoption Day at Adopt A Dog Sri Lanka and there were adorable puppies with adorable puppy dog eyes, begging to be picked up and taken home. Adopt a Dog in Sri Lanka is a non-profit organization that mainly focuses on finding good homes for homeless animals. ADSL is run by a handful of people who love animals. It is evident on their page the trouble they go through to find street dogs a good home. Their belief is very simple – you cannot change the world, but you will make one dog a very happy puppy.
To ensure the doggy goes to a good home, they have a screening process where they won’t allow anyone off the street to adopt them and then call the potential adoptive parents to the Adoption Day.
This time, they had 7 puppies who went home with their new owners. There are many ways you can help them. You can help financially, which is a dire need if you follow them on their Facebook. They need money for vaccinating, sterilizing and sometimes even minor surgeries which they get proper vets to do and then you can adopt. Help ADSL get dogs off the road and into warm and happy families.
